http://www.ted.com/talks/charles_limb_building_the_musical_muscle.html

This was a TED talk by Charles Limb, who is a doctor and a musician. In his speech, he talks about how our sense of hearing is one of the most hardest sense to restore in the medical world today. Out of all the sounds music is the hardest for the deaf to comprehend. For someone who is deaf or loosing their hearing will not be able to perceive music as a person who has their full hearing would. The beauty in music is lost, but not all hope is. Beethoven, one of the greatest musicians, composed many of his pieces as he was going deaf. Showing us  that are brains have a certain connection to music.

"We have come a long way. We have a long way to go. Restoration of basic sensory function is critical. Restoration of the ability to perceive beauty is inspiring."
